Nissan Motors is the Japanese automotive company that was formed by the merger of two smaller firms in 1925. It got its current name in 1934. Nissan Motors entered the global market in the 1960s and today it is one of the most popular automotive giants. In 1999 the French automaker Renault bought a 37 per cent stake in Nissan and later increased its share. As for India, Nissan started operations in the country in 2005 through its subsidiary Nissan Motors India Pvt. Ltd. In this article, let’s have a look at Nissan Motors’ plans for the Indian market and the cars it sells in the nation.

Nissan has big plans for India. Along with its Japanese partner, Renault, the car maker will be investing Rs 4,500 Crore to produce 4 Lakh units of its cars by 2015 in the manufacturing plant in Chennai, India. Nissan plans to make this facility a global export hub. The alliance has already invested Rs 2,900 Crore in the 64-acre facility. The Chennai, India facility was inaugurated in March 2010 and the new car in India, Nissan Micra will be produced there.

Bookings for the small car are already open, the car is being displayed in showrooms, the production has begun and the car will be on the Indian roads in July. The made-in-India car will be exported to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The car has been specially designed keeping the Indian consumers needs in mind, but will be exported to over 100 countries. That is what Nissan Motors plans as of now. It has been designed on the new V platform or the new versatile platform.

Nissan Motors also sells the 370Z, the Teana and the Nissan X-Trail in India. The Nissan 370Z is a high performer built with cutting-edge technology which is very much needed to ply over the humpy bumpy roads in India. The car’s stylish looks are just perfect to lure the modern Indian crowd. The car comes strapped with a 6-speed manual transmission which flaunts the world’s first synchronized downshift rev-matching system or Synchro Rev Match.

The Nissan Teana is a luxury car from the Japanese car maker’s stables. It comes on to the Indian roads fully equipped with imported Japanese mechanism and technology. The spacious wooden interiors with leather upholstery are spacious enough to hold even the big fat Indian families. This car from Nissan Motors truly redefines lavishness. The Teana’s powerful engine is coupled with a smooth shifting XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) that one can rule over with just the touch of a finger.

The X-Trail is the only off-road car that Nissan Motors offers in India. The spectacular SUV has amazing amount of power that best suits the Indian roads. The executive sedan-sized seats with ample space in the cabin and the luggage compartment make the drive comfy and convenient. The fuel economy of the Nissan X-Trail is also commendable.

Japanese vehicles are known for their efficiency and compact size. But they can really hit it with their big guns with pick-up truck models. These vehicles are not just but they still retain the Japanese can trait of reducing fuel consumption. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the Honda Ridgeline. In the US, it has received the international truck of the year award. One of the reasons why it has garnered such an award is because of innovative features like the 8.5 cu. Ft. In-Bed TrunkTM.

It is a large and hidden trunk that keeps your gear secure. It is water tight and it is made of high-strength composite material. The Honda Ridgeline is a well-equipped truck although unoptioned is certainly a contender.

While fuel costs continue to rise, Japanese carmakers continue to make more efficient cars by designing hybrid cars. Concept cars are giving much attention to alternative and environmentally friendly power and fuel sources; it is a good idea to develop plug-in hybrid cars. The difference between hybrid cars and plug-in hybrid cars is their power source. A hybrid car is just a gasoline car that is more efficient. It doesn’t even double the MPG. A plug-in hybrid car is not just a gasoline car but also and electric car. With electricity, it will be cheaper, greener, cleaner and domestic which means we don’t have to import electricity.

Now as if following suit, Honda, considered to be one of the world’s most reliable auto brands is suffering the same fate.

A recall of some of their previous brands concerning a software glitch that can cause the engine to stall and gearbox to literally kill itself is underway covering CRV’s, Accords and several other brands. The recall is being labeled as precautionary and unlike Toyota’s fate, there have been no injuries that have given way to the recall.

Is there a car that I can buy at a low price and have fuel economy at the same time. While more and more car manufacturers are exploring the use of alternative fuels and vehicles that use as little gas possible which can lead to additional costs in technology, others created smaller compact hatchback cars. One of those super subcompact hatchback vehicles is the Suzuki Alto which saves fuel and saves space as well. If you are not concerned with luxury and that much comfort, the Alto can be your perfect first car or a fleet car. This car would surely get you from point A to point B.

Mass destruction of facilities that manufacture cars for export globally have been either hit directly or have had suppliers of parts hit by the past disaster.
There was production but at a slower pace with manufacturing facilities spread all over the world but recovery of those hard hit areas in their home country was a priority to help the economy and the Japanese people themselves. Recovery is underway, though the country needs more time for wounds to heal and a sense of normalcy to return.

Japanese cars are known for their efficiency and how easy it is to fix, repair or maintain it. But over the years Japanese cars have also acquired a reputation that European cars monopolized before – engineering and luxury.

The Japanese have also encroached on the qualities that define European cars. And this is quite a welcome development because it means prices are also going to become more competitive as time goes by. In fact, we’re seeing this trend right now. In a few more years, we’ll definitely see far more competitive pricing coming from both Japanese and European car manufacturers.

One might ask what VTEC means. We see VTEC in Japanese cars, especially on cars manufactured by Honda, the company who introduced the VTEC technology. VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. To really understand this system designed by Honda R&D engineer Ikuro Kajitani, you must first know how an engine works. You can visit http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine.htm, so that you would know how a car engine works before you can fully understand this amazing technology. VTEC was originally designed to maintain practicality in mass produced vehicles at the same time increasing its power output. A lot of VTEC variants have already came out one of which is the i-VTEC which cuts down fuel consumption while maintaining the power rating.
