Focusing too much on the tachometer will make your attention less on the road. Going faster increases wind resistance but going slower makes your engine run below optimum rpm ,also it can make you a car hazard. It isn’t really bad to run your engine at low revs but it is wise to rev up that Japanese economy car once a week to increase oil pressure and prevent deposits from forming in oil galleries.
